Designer Hope Wade & 16 Year Old Actress Colby Christina Take New York Fashion Week By Storm


Actress, COLBY CHRISTINA, danced her way inside of the Intrepid Museum on to the Red Carpet for the Launch of Style Fashion Week New York adorned in the artistry of HOPE WADE DESIGNS.

STYLE FASHION WEEK: Style Fashion Week New York is the brainchild of Veronica & Lee Kerzner. Style Fashion Week was founded in March 2011 by Veronica Kerzner & Karim Atash.  Style Fashion Week LA where Veronica started is the largest, most influential Fashion Event of the Fashion Week Season & Style Fashion Week New York has exploded beyond measure.

Style Fashion Week opened its three-day event on September 7, 2017 at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located aboard the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid at Pier 86 in New York. The Fashion Shows, held during New York Fashion Week, were filled with a wide variety of styles that ranged from European chic to Vietnamese-influenced silhouettes and of course COLBY CHRISTINA making a VIP Guest appearance adorned in HOPE WADE DESIGNS.

Style Fashion Week, Founded by Veronica Kerzner, travels around the world to showcase International Fashion with shows in Los Angeles; New York; Palm Springs, California and Dubai to name a few.

HOPE WADE:  Hope Wade was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She is the fourth of five siblings to the late Supt of Police Eustace and Mavis Blake. She attended Vaz Preparatory School and the Convent of Mercy Academy Alpha High School. As a Foreign Student she studied Art & Advertising Design at New York City Technical College (AAS) and then Graphic Design & Photography at Cooper Union College (BFA). Hope migrated to the United States in 1982 and lives with her husband and daughter in Pomona, New York.

Hope started the Hope Wade Designs Fashion Company in 1991, quite by chance, during that year, she was out of work, the church she was attending had a special New Year’s Eve event, and the attire was formal.   She decided to put her skills to the test and designed a head turning dress which she wore to the event. She was highly complimented and those who were close to her thought she had shopped for it.  This gave Hope the confidence she need to pursue the dream of owning her own business.  Today, she is well known for producing outstandingly opulent and elegant designs and skillfully using silks, taffeta’s and Italian leather among other fabrics to drape her clients!

Hope has sewn for many famous business women, media personnel and public figures in the United States. Her designs have graced many red carpet events.

Hope has also gained notable recognition for her designs and has received several awards including those listed below:

May 2017  – Hope was JAMCCAR Honoree for Outstanding Community Service whereas she received 9 Awards including a Citation from the New York State Assembly. 

January 2016 – She was invited to present her designs in Pecha Kucha 20×20 with Rosie O’Donnell in Nyack, New York.

June 2015 – Hope showed her latest collection at Caribbean Fashion Week using message art to comment on the “Black Lives Matter” Movement.

March 2015 – She competed and was selected as one of the top 3 Finalists in the Project Runway, a Critique with Tim Gunn. Her designs are worn by the hostess of the ABC TV show “Southern Chefs.”

October 2014 – Hope was voted Best Up and Coming Fashion Designer of the Hudson Valley region by the Hudson Valley Magazine.

August 2014 – Her black gown with feathers won the Designer Award at the Miss Jamaica Nation Beauty Pageant in Kingston, Jamaica.

Her designs have also been featured at the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week and Brooklyn Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Show.

Academy Award & Grammy winner DARLENE LOVE wore a Hope Wade Designs signature red trumpet gown to perform on the DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW and one of her couture designs for President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for The Gospel Traditional TV performance at the White House.

October 2014 – she was selected to show her line on the runway for Tim Gunn (Project Runway) by (FAX) Fashion Arts XChange for their 20th Anniversary Celebration.

September 2013 – Hope represented the United States at the London Fashion Week Emerging Trends Fashion Challenge where she competed against designers from all over the world.

Hope has also showcased her collections on super models Janel McKenzie and Sedena Blake. In addition her work has been featured in several magazines including Vogue, Flair & Super Models SQ Fierce Life.

Hope recognizes the value  of  giving  back  to the  community and  continues to do several shows for charity.

Hope’s motto is “If you can describe it, I can design it.”

Hope created another footprint in the Fashion World when 16 year old Actress, Dancer, Singer and TV Show Host, COLBY CHRISTINA appeared at New York Style Fashion Week and was greeted with rave reviews in one of her stunning designs.



No event is complete without a Master Photographer and Alonzo Boldin was at New York Style Fashion Week to capture every minute of the Hope Wade Designs debut at Style Fashion Week as worn by Actress/Model – COLBY CHRISTINA.

His life as a Professional Artist has been exemplary. Alonzo Boldin received his B.A. in Media, studying Photography and developed his skills in Studio Portraiture and Still Life which he obtained from the Center for the Media Arts and is currently a strong advocate for staunch professional beliefs and values. He’s been a highly acclaimed professional Photographer for more than 15 years, dedicating his life and craft to capturing everything from intimate moments to high-profile celebrity events and galas; from weddings to fashion shoots and everything in between. His photography assignments have taken him to some of the most beautiful locations known to man and in spite of his constantly busy schedule, he still finds time to teach others the meaning of loving, developing and learning your craft. Alonzo is currently writing and producing an independent film called “Color”, depicting racial tension within a family. As he develops his long-standing interest in film and video he embarks on the next level: his desire to become a talented Film Director. His motto is “If you see it, then capture and save it. Indeed!”


Colby Christina is TV Show Host, Actor, Singer, Dancer, Choreographer, Advocate, Model, Choreographer, Motivational Speaker, AUDELCO “Rising Star” Award Recipient and the Restoration Center for Arts and Culture Student Ambassador. Colby has trained professionally since the age of two at the Restoration Center for Arts and Culture and at other locations.

Colby has been labeled a formidable “Triple Threat” Nationally and Internationally. She credits Peggy Alston, the Emeritus Director of the Restoration Center for Arts and Culture with being the very first Triple Threat she ever met in a formal setting who ignited a spark in her. To her credit, Colby has received more than 100 Awards, Citations, Proclamations and Honors.

She is a 16 year old High School Senior fast tracked to complete High School at age 16 in the Class of 2018. Her accomplishments to date have catapulted her many places including to the Red Carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival as a Guest at the Oprah Winfrey Premiere of “Greenleaf” on the OWN Network, the Celebrity Teen Co-Chair at the National Black Theatre Festival 2015 & 2017 and now VIP Guest at New York Style Fashion Week.

Colby Christina has performed many places including Center Stage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music yearly in Dance Africa founded by the late great Dr. Baba Charles “Chuck” Davis and at her home theatre the Billie Holiday Theater where Colby also appeared in the Lead Role of “Alice” to sold out audiences in the Stage to TV Production, “The Liberation of Mother Goose”, with Billie Holiday Theatre Director Emeritus, Marjorie Moon, Executive Producer/Director, Peggy Alston, Playwright Aduke Aremu and Director & Choreographer Abdel Salaam (now Artistic Director for Dance Africa). Colby Christina captured the attention of many in the Theatre World and beyond with this amazing triple threat performance.

Upon receiving the AUDELCO, for excellence in Black Theater, Colby Christina joined the ranks of Denzel Washington, Kerry Washington and Sanaa Lathan who also received the “Rising Star” AUDELCO Award.

Colby’s TV Show, “Colby’s Corner – Real Teen Talk TV” debuted in 2016 to rave reviews and continues to be a beacon of light to Teens, Tweens and even adults around the world and can be seen in 20 to 30 million households and was taped live while Colby conducted interviews at New York Style Fashion Week after she appeared on the Red Carpet and on Stage.

Colby lives by the motto: “Think Big, Dream Big and Soar” as launched in her recent campaign featured in the Huffington Post.
