El DeBarge's triumphant return to the world stage at the 2010 BET Awards and announcement of his first new album in 16 years has created a wave of excitement from critics and his newly energized fanbase.
In the 24 hours following his performance two weeks ago, "El DeBarge" ranked as the number one searched term on both Google and Yahoo!'s search engines. Entertainment Weekly called his performance one of the night's "most enjoyable sequences," while MTV said "2010 could end up being the year of El DeBarge."
The soulful hitmaker also had two successful performances in Louisiana this week. In addition to opening for Vivian Green at the House of Blues, El DeBarge wowed the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on Saturday when he made a surprise duet performance with Keri Hilson on "I Like It."
It's only the beginning for El DeBarge, whose new album 'Second Chance' will be released on Geffen Records on September 28, 2010. The album features collaborations with some of music's most notable hitmakers, including Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Babyface, Ron Fair, Mike City, Michael Angelo, Mischke and the Avila Brothers.
